Itinerary:

Day 1 New Zealand – Huntsville
On arrival into Huntsville, you will be met by a representative who will transfer you to your hotel.


Days 2 - 7 Space Camp
The group will participate in the U.S. Space & Rocket Center Space Camp, an amazing 5 night experience that challenges students in teamwork, leadership, and decision making and motivates them in STEM skill sets. Check-in is at 10.30am.

The curriculum is designed and developed by a professional education staff with the experience and knowledge to make the program both educational and fun. The Space Camp was launched in 1982 to inspire and motivate young people from around the country and the world to join the ranks of space pioneers who persevere to push the boundaries of human exploration.

Advanced Space Academy explores University and career preparation through an immersive experience in science, technology, engineering, and math. Trainees undergo a variety of astronaut training exercises, engineering challenges, and teambuilding activities, all culminating in an extended-duration simulated space mission.

​

Activities include:

  • Train like an astronaut on the 1/6th Gravity Chair and the Multi-Axis Trainer.

  • Design, build and launch a team rocket, and safely recover its payload.

  • Learn teambuilding skills on the high elements at our Area 51 Challenge Course.

  • Experience neutral buoyancy while SCUBA diving in the Underwater Astronaut Trainer! (Pending physician approval)

  • Test your skills in our Engineering Challenges by constructing a heat shield and building a Rover.

  • Fly jet aircraft simulators!

  • Discover the role the International Space Station plays in our global community.

  • Prepare for every contingency as you go to Mars on an extended-duration mission simulation!

Teacher Accommodation is at the Marriott Hotel next to the  U.S. Space & Rocket Center.


Day 8 Huntsville- New Zealand
This morning you will be transferred to the airport for your return flights to New Zealand.

Day 1 New Zealand – Los Angeles
On early morning arrival into Los Angeles you will be met and then depart for your Los Angeles and Hollywood tour. Initially, a stop will be made at the Farmers Market for lunch. Then it is off to Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills followed by a stop at Mann's Chinese Theatre and the Hollywood Walk of Fame. If time permits the group will then visit downtown LA with its Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angeles, the Disney Concert Hall, and Olvera Street, the heart of the Latin community. The group will then head to Santa Monica where individuals can shop at the Third Street Promenade, relax on the beach, or enjoy the rides, the amusement arcade, and restaurants at the Santa Monica Pier. The tour will end at your hotel.


Day 2 - San Diego
Enjoy a sightseeing tour of San Diego and visit the the San Diego Air & Space Museum.

 
Day 3 - Los Angeles
Visit to the California Science Center and the Griffith Observatory. The California Science Center provides an innovative model for science learning by combining exhibits with an on-site Science Center School and Amgen Center for Science Learning.

It includes:

  • World of Life probes the commonalities of the living world, from the single-celled bacterium to the 100-trillion-celled human being.

  • Creative World examines the ways people employ technology to meet their needs for transportation, communication and structures.

  • Ecosystems features an unprecedented blend of nearly 400 species of live plants and animals, and hands-on exhibits in 11 immersive environments.

  • Space Shuttle Endeavour is located in Samuel Oschin Pavilion. In the Pavilion, guests are able to see Endeavour up close and discover some of the science behind this amazing space vehicle. The Samuel Oschin Pavilion also features SPACEHAB, a workshop for astronauts while in space, and a space shuttle main engine (SSME) which helped push the shuttle into orbit. Before entering the Pavilion, guests will be able to enjoy an introductory experience, Endeavour: The California Story, which celebrates Endeavour’s many scientific achievements and its strong connection to California where all the orbiters were built.

Travel to Huntsville for Space Camp.


Day 5
Space Camp - continue as per above.
